Abstract: This paper is on the Simultaneous determination of carbon and sulfur in coal samples using high-frequency infrared absorption method. Samples are pretreated mechanically and melted in complex slagging medium. Thus, sputtering caused by the oxygen stream blasting from the top is avoided. The measuring rang for carbon(0.001%~5%) and sulfur(0.001%~80%)can be made by this method. The recovery ranks from 93.91%~103.65%, and RSD rangs from 0.83 % ~ 1.70%.
