Abstract: According to the dynamics of gas-solid packed beds, a mathematical model of cooling air flow in vertical cooler is established in this article. Distributing of velocity field and resistance in cooler is simulated by JAVA program. And basic flowing rules of cooling air are studied under different air speed. The affect of velocity for velocity field and resistance of clinker are discussed here. The results indicate that air speed has a great influence on air flow in vertical cooler. Unit resistance of clinker is linear essentially with velocity when the air speed is <9m/s; And yet unit resistance of clinker is the quadratic function of air speed when the velocity is >9m/s. Resistance of clinker is the quadratic function of porosity. The effect of the clinker size on flow field is less than clinker porosity.
