Abstract The bearings for the roller used were the key parts in vertical roller mill, whose performance directly affects the safety and reliability of the vertical roller mill. Type selection and the rated life of the bearings in a certain type of the vertical roller mill were analyzed and calculated. Other important factors in design of the bearings were studied, such as bearing seals, bearing lubrication, bearing clearance and so on. The practice has proved that the correct type selection, the proper use and maintenance of the bearings can increase the actual service life, effectively avoid losses.
