Abstract Two finite element models are established by using SAP2000 software based on the project of kiln tail structure. Difference between Chinese code and USA code is compared through the analysis of earthquake action of two models according to these two codes. The analytical results indicate that seismic fortification goal, seismic design principle, load combination and response spectrum are quite different between two codes. Earthquake shear and story drift in USA code are both bigger than that in Chinese code.
