Abstract The properties of magnesium phosphate cement and the crystal morphology of hydration products under different boric acid dosages were tested and analyzed experimentally, and the effect of boric acid dosage on magnesium phosphate cement was discussed. The experimental results showed that the fluidity of magnesium phosphate cement was not significantly improved after boric acid was added. The coagulation time increased significantly, but the coagulation time did not continuously increase with the increase of boric acid content, and the boric acid content of 4% was the optimal dosage. The flexural strength and compressive strength decreased significantly in the early stage, and the strength changed little in the later stage. At the same time, the addition of boric acid inhibited the crystallization of potassium struvite in cement, and with the increase of boric acid content, the content of potassium strudite decreased and changed from uneven prismatic to sharp cone.
