Abstract The formation mechanism of NOx in the combustion process of cement kiln was discussed. The staged combustion self-denitration technology of calciner was introduced. A laboratory vertical electric furnace research platform was set up to simulate NOx related reaction in calciner. Experiment was carried out to obtain the relevant reaction principleof CO and NO, and correlation between reaction rate and different temperatures, residence times and atmosphere were studied. The application of a cement project in Hubei showed self-denitration calciner achieved denitration efficiency more than 60%, NOx concent of calciner outlet gas <400mg/Nm3, monthly average ammonia consumption decreased by more than 60%, saving more than 2 million CNY per year.
