Abstract A cement production line project in Africa, located in the expansive soil area, the foundations of several workshops appeared serious settlement or uplift due to construction during rainy season. After analysis of the causes and comparison of several schemes, the grouting method is decided to be adopted for foundation reinforcement. The advantage of grouting treatment is simple and easy to construct, short construction period, low cost and obvious reinforcement effect. After grouting treatment, foundation is safe and stable.
