Abstract The method of transformation seismic parameters between Indian standard and American standard was introduced. Taking the structure design of the pump house in waste heat recovery power project for cement factory as an example, through the contrastive analysis of the important seismic parameters such as importance factor, site class, response modification coefficient, maximum earthquake spectral response acceleration parameters, etc. between the Indian standard IS 1893(Part 4):2005 and American standard ASCE/SEI 7-10. The correctness of the parameter transformation was verified by the seismic response spectrum curves fitting and the calculation results of the horizontal earthquake. The results of transformation seismic parameters showed that the seismic response spectrum curves of the Indian and American standard were fitted, and the calculated horizontal seismic forces were close.
