Abstract The reason of seal failure of big gear ring and small gear shaft of rotary kiln is analyzed. The solution of changing shaft end seal to labyrinth oil baffle with asbestos packing is put forward, which would effectively prevent the leakage of lubricating oil, greatly reduce the cost of lubrication, and avoid the tooth surface damage caused by lack of oil.
