Abstract Gear ring utilized for rotary kiln was usually formed by casting, and the casting quality determined using security, the heat treatment process determined service life. Through improving the casting process, the casting quality can be improved. The grade of casting quality was determined by two nondestructive testing technique which were ultrasonic nondestructive testing (UT) and magnetic particle nondestructive testing (MT). Heat treatment process was changed from normalizing + tempering to quenching + tempering, which could increase the tooth surface hardness, thereby achieve the purpose of improving the service life of the gear ring.
